At ID Clinic in Thailand, I was persuaded to combine a chin implant with Vaser liposuction, despite only seeking the implant. The morning surgery was rescheduled to the afternoon, and I was told to eat breakfast after having fasted the night before. In the afternoon, under local anesthesia with sedation, I remained conscious, leading to an external incision instead of the planned intra-oral one. Discharged the next day, I noticed a week later the implant was misplaced and too small. The surgeon admitted the error, offering a revision the next day if I paid for a new implant, which I did, despite concerns about reopening the scar. His dismissive attitude was concerning, but I proceeded.
At 12 weeks post-revision, ID Clinic’s support has been poor—slow responses initially, now none. Post-operative care was minimal, and I felt rushed out. I consulted another surgeon who provided scar-healing cream, noting extended recovery from early revision but “no appreciable difference” from the procedures. The 7.5cm diagonal scar appears hypertrophic and poorly done, and I recently got a steroid injection from a third surgeon. The liposuction shows no results despite tenderness.
Is it premature to assess the results? I feel neglected by ID Clinic, having to seek external surgeons for follow-up care, scar treatments, and injections. Recovery has been challenging, requiring time away from my career. Comparing before and after photos, I am regretful about the experience, to say the least. Are there any repercussions that surgeons face in Thailand for such a poor service? Would contacting the Medical Council of Thailand help at all? Not only do I feel cheated out of my money, but he has done more harm than good.
