Attachments/buttons, should they hurt this much?

I just got my first trays two days ago and had to have attachments, or buttons, glued to my teeth. The ones on the outer side of my teeth are annoying but not causing any pain, but the 4 attached on the inside of my lower back molars and wisdom teeth are tearing my tongue apart!!I have just lower Invisalign to upright my back molars and wisdom teeth that tilted due to my first molars being extracted on both sides. Is it normal for buttons to be attached to both sides of the teeth? Not only does it hurt, but it is also really difficult to remove the aligner when eating or brushing. I feel like I'm going to break the tray cause I need to use a plastic hook tool that they gave me to literally pry the tray off. I called my orthodontist and they said I could use wax to cover the scratchy parts, make an appt to have them filed, or file them myself at home. I didn't have time to make an appt and was in a lot of pain when speaking or chewing with my aligner off, so I attempted to file them myself, which was really scary and uncomfortable and didn't seem to help much. And this morning one button popped off and it feels so much better. I don't want to tell my orthodontist that it came off cause I don't want it put back on. The process is painful, with my mouth pried open and my horrible tooth sensitivity. The tray seems to be stayin on fine. Should it be ok to leave it off and give myself some relief? I have a follow up appt in 4 weeks and id like to leave it off until then if I can get away with it. And should they be this painful? Like tearing my tongue to the point where it's raw and bleeding? Why do I need buttons on the outside and inside of my teeth?!
