I am reading about people having significant back issues after tummy tuck surgery. I see the responses here saying that the surgery has no connection to this. I am 18 months post tummy tuck. Was at ideal body weight 135 lbs 5ft 5 and in the best physical shape if my adult life prior to surgery. My spine was neutral and I would brag how beautiful it was after years of yoga hiking etc caring for it. surgery was a hope to remove a scar on my abdominal and tighten skin from having children. i Am now looking at a very real possibility of back surgery. buldged discs with nerve impingement and nerve damage. My spine feels collapsed and I am in physical rehab and will be for a long time. i have opinions from plastic surgeons who did state the back issues are most likely due to the surgery. It is my opinion my tummy tuck was pulled too tight in both directions. I have range of motion restriction since the surgery that has not subsided dispite, PT, chiropractic, pain management speciality care, daily exercise etc. I did have regular follow up with the original surgeon Who told me everything I was doing toward healing was right on.
Why are these complications not discussed with patients as a real possibility?
