I'm not so sure I think it's dentists that are the reason as I think the labs making teeth for crown work or dentures should be on site where the patient is being seen. I have never seen a decent upper plate except 1 and that was my last one which they insisted the lab technician come to the office to see me and ask me how I want my teeth to look. A lab technician should be able to see a patient this way because how on earth will they be able to know how to follow the lower lip line with the upper teeth? If I have to tell the dentist what is wrong when i say the teeth look awful then that dentist should not be offering the service. If I have to learn the proper positioning of all upper teeth in order to make a proper upper plate to make sure a dentist does not stick me with something that looks like crap, then maybe I should be the one getting paid the money they charge. I'm wondering these things because dentists in most cases, just do not know as much as people think and I see too much of this happening all the time. I have been screwed for so much money over 5 years, just in the pursuit of nice straight teeth, that all this failure has left me with a mouthful of crooked crowns, uneven chipped acrylic upper teeth, and alot less money in the bank. I am not joking when I say that the dental industry owes me and probably many others for the poor service they push our way regardless if we gave the green light that a wax looked good. Because I liked the way the teeth looked in wax one time before and when the finals came in, they were NOT the same. And they say I approved this? First off, if I approved it, and it looks wrong, the dentist should back me up because the lab obviosuly screwed up. It's not a joke at all. These things are happening and the dental industryu, being so costly, is made up of many people who are supposed to be professionals and even those who have achieved excellent results on some patients have also failed at providing the same level of service for others. My friend says they love their upper plate and I agree it looked great. NBut when I see the same dentist, the result was an abomination. I said they look terrible and the dentist says that is how they are supposed to look? Yea OK!. NO MORE. I just want to know which dentists actually think top frontal teeth are supposed touch the tips of bottom frontal teeth. They are NOT!. They are supposed to overlap. Textbook says 1mm. I say I want mine 2mm or 2.5mm. That's because people are human being. NOT textbooks. But the majority of dentists doing dentures today are not even accomplishing the textbook example. Patients are better off learning the textbook rules for properly placing teeth in an upper plate otherwise they are more than likely going to get a poor smile. I am not wrong either. I apologize to all dentists who are clearly capable of doing things right. But I am really tired of the clear inadequacy of the dental profession when it comes to so many dental professionals providing a service on the cosmetic level. This is an outrage, to be honest. The customer should always be right. When something looks wrong, and a patient says they do not like it, even after getting a final, they should fix it. The fees charged for these services are sometimes outrageous but those who pay deserve satisfaction. More communication is needed. The dentist should be educating the patient regarding their options. But none seem to want to do it. And I cannot understand why. But, in my experience, it appears like this is extreme arrogance. But I will make certain my next upper will be right or I will reject that wax 50 times. If they can't get it right, it will not be accepted. And I will take a photo of the wax, in my mouth, showing my 8 tooth smile, when they finally get it right. This way if the final plate comes and does not look the same as the photo, then it ALSO gets rejected . I will no longer tolerate an awful looking set of teeth. I am so glad I have a semi=decent upper to compare to. If they cannot improve upon the example I have shown them, they will get the model rejected until they do. So far, I've rejected my current new upper they are TRYING to make 11 times. Now, I ask someone..... why on earth is the lab technician under the notion they will be able to solve this without coming on site? I think the dentist is limited. They are not able to do much except relay information. The lab gets an impression of my mouth and dentists are under the assumption this is enough to get it right. Maybe when an idiot sits in the chair and will accept anything they give. But one of the most important ingredients that a LAB does not have with them when making a set of teeth is the MOUTH of the patient. The shape of the mouth and the location of the lips in relation to the ridge of the gums where the plate sits. And also there is not ay the lab knows how wide your mouth opens when you smile. They are literally not going to convince me they have the tools to accurately and consistantly account for these variations because I've never seen it happen yet and I am part of a very angry denture wearing community who are very tired of wearing awful looking dentures. Denture wearing should be a chance for us to get back that beautiful smile we once had but instead Dentists have turned into their money pitI said I want my central incisors to overlap my lower teeth an additional 1mm because that is more natural. I get this textbook says 1mm crap one more time I will scream. So I get the wax back again and they chose to raise my back teeth so my smile is now showing 6 teeth. I have 8 on my current plate and it was beautiful before many of them chipped and got worn. But even in the state my current plate is in, it looks 100 times better than anything they are showing me in the wax models thus far. They can't make teeth if their life depended on it. I am not a computer model. I am not a text book. I WANT DECENT TEETH!. I've PAID ENOUGHH! This is not my first rodeo. And the only plate that even resembled good was the one I currently wear. And ironically, it was made by A. D. I will not spell out the name as I am not promoting them or anyone. Because they are also ridiculed for many a disaster. Maybe alot of people had bad experiences with them. But I bet they have more satisfied patients than most of these private practices. Fact is, this dental industry has been nothing but a big disappointment to so many people. I envy all those who managed to get a good experience. Your case must have been a simple one. But that should tell you something about a dental practice. If they cannot manage to be successful with even more complex cases, then they should close their doors. My apologies for venting my frustrations. There is no excuse for the terrible pain I have suffered in the past 5 years in pursuit of what I was told would be a simple task. To give me straight, and nice looking teeth. Nothing even remotely close to this has ever taken place
