I'm scheduled for my lab work and pre-op tomorrow (2/9/15) for a tummy tuck/lipo scheduled for 2/23/15. I scared as heck with all I've read about pain and recovery.....to the point I hope I don't back out! I've decided to get Exparel as my doctor has explained it helps for up to 72 hours after surgery. I worry about going to the bathroom (or not being able to have a BM) as I have IBS and hemmaroids (sp?) so "going" is always an issue for me. I'm a real chicken when it comes to pain. Also a lot of pain medication makes me very nauseated! I know the end result will be worth it but it's getting through the first few days or weeks that worry me. Do they expect you to get up and into a chair immediately after you come to after surgery? Also, how do you get in and out of the car and into the house? What do you do/where do you sit or lie down after you get home? My husband is taking off time from work to take care for me for the week following the surgery. As you can tell, I have lots of questions and a lot of fear too. I'm afraid I'm going to work myself up into a nervous wreck before the 23rd!
