Hi everyone - a question probably asked a thousand times, but here goes...I am a 39 year old male with Caucasian and Asian (Sri Lankan) heritageMy father suffered with what we now know to be Melasma as did his sister.Sadly my older brother and younger sister have both been afflicted with this condition and it is heaartbreaking for them.I have been lucky so far (touch wood) in that despite being the worst sun worshipper, melisma hasn't knocked on my door....yet.My skin has always been complimentary clear however over the past year I have noticed numerous dark spots starting to appear, larger than freckles, as well as two fairly large & darkish patches (like teabag stains) around the corners of both my eyes - the change in tone is very subtle, more noticeable by myself - but it's there.I have never paid much attention to my looks, but having become unexpectedly single a year ago I have started to try and look after myself better as at my age, it is harder to meet someone. These dark spots are really starting to show and it is affecting my confidence - I have tried to speak with my family but as they have suffered far worse, they tell me to stop worrying. But I am starting to.So anyway.....I have tried a number of 'dark spot' correctors to try and be pro-active (along with spf 30 everyday) and none have faded anything.I tried Clinique's much vaunted corrector - nothing. I tried La Roche Posay Pigmentclar - nothing. I have tried Olay's skin tone perfecting serum - nothing ...and many others including vitaminC24 by Indeed labs. I found my dark spots worsened with pigmentclar - that product gets the worse rating. So - has anyone found a product that either inhibits production of new dark spots and even better - fades them!I would really appreciate help as I have no idea where to go. I cannot afford a dermatologist however my sister saw one and all she was given was hydroquinone. It worked briefly but its efficacy soon stopped, Hydroquinnone ould be difficult for me as the dark spots are small. My brother visited the hyperpigmentation clinic in Harley St - some fading but it soon returned. He has just completed a month of the Cosmelan peel - the effects are dramatic but its early days - my issues thus far do not warrant such an intervention.Any help with dark spot fading interventions which actually work would be most welcome.Thankyou and sorry for the ramble. I do not know how to approach these things.Take care.
