I’ve tried just about every lip filler under the sun, but nothing seems to stick long-term for me. No matter the product or injector, I typically get about 1cc injected, and my lips go through the usual swelling phase for 10–12 days. After that, they look great for about 6–8 weeks—but then it’s like a slippery slope: volume fades, wrinkles appear, and the injector’s needle marks become visible, much like the photo pictured today, 6/16/2025 (which was taken this morning, and by the evening my lips look worse).
As far as this being a metabolism issue, that could be the case. However, I’ve had fillers elsewhere on my face that seem to last many months longer—3 to 4 months or more—so I just can’t figure out why my lips are the issue.
Here’s a quick rundown of my lip filler journey so far: 6/16/2024: Lips in the photo above, no previous injections (I apologize for the quality of this pic—I was photographing something other than my lips that day), 6/20/2024: 1cc Volbella at a med spa, 7/23/2024: 1cc RHA-2 at a surgeon’s office, 9/26/2024: 1cc RHA-2 again, with a plastic surgeon, 1/14/2025: 1cc Juvederm Ultra Plus XC at different med spa, 3/10/2025: 1cc Restylane Contour at yet another med spa.
At first, I thought it was the injector, but now I’m starting to think it’s the product itself.
I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of money hopping from one provider to another, each swearing by the product they offer. I’m not expecting the usual 6–12 months longevity manufacturers advertise—I’d be thrilled if I could get more than 6–8 weeks of lasting results after swelling subsides.
I’m not interested in implants or fat injections, and certainly not in the upkeep of lip injections every 2–3 months, but I truly believe there’s something out there that could work for me and provide better longevity.
