Hi everyoneWay back in 2001 I decided to go and have rhinoplasty surgery as I hated the way my nose looked. It was long and had a hump on the bridge and I wanted to have a straight nose that was slightly shorter. Regrettably I didn't do much research into finding the best surgeon at the time, mainly because I was a bit naive and the information on the internet in those days wasn't as good as it is now. Had there been a website like this 15 years ago I probably wouldn't be in this mess I'm in now. I don't remember how I ended up choosing the Highgate Private Hospital in London but it was there that I went for a consultation with Mr Saif Khan. I remember bringing a profile photo of my face to the consultation and had digitally removed the area of the nose I didn't want. I showed this to Dr Khan and he said he could achieve what I wanted although the nose wouldn't be as short as I had done it in the photo. I feel he covered everything I needed to know and he answered what questions I had. With that I put my trust into Dr Khan and believed that he could do a good job so I laid down a deposit and the surgery was booked. After the surgery and once the bandages came off the nose looked good although obviously swollen. The first time I saw my new nose I didn't think it looked that bad. The hump was now gone and it looked shorter so I was happy at the time. However, as time went by and the swelling went down I noticed one side of my nose began to sink in or pinch and as a result of this the tip seemed to twist to the left slightly. I also had a groove under the tip of the nose which under a bad light looked a bit unsightly.I was so stupid to think that it was ok and I just went on in life trying to forget about it. It was only 3 years after the surgery that I finally went back to see Dr Khan to show him what had happened. He basically said that he had done a good job and that the bridge of the nose was perfectly straight (which it was) but he didn't seem to acknowledge the sunken side of my nose and the way the tip looked. He just put it down to the fact that he thought I had lost a lot of weight and appeared more gaunt and thinner than before. Would that really of made a difference anyway?Today, I'm left with a botched nose job basically and it's definitely affected my self-esteem and confidence. When a picture gets taken of me I have to turn my face a certain way to show the good side of my nose. Over the years, I guess I've just lived with it and got on with life the best way I could but after seeing a fresh set of new pictures of myself taken recently outside on a sunny day I can just see how bad my nose looks again and it's never going to go away.I'm in the process now of collecting as much information as I can on revision rhinoplasty but most importantly finding the best surgeon there is to correct my botched nose. I would prefer a surgeon in the UK as I live there but would be interested to hear from top surgeons anywhere in the world especially in America.Your help will be greatly appreciated and would be good to hear from others with similar experiences to mine. Having a read a stories so far I can see that I am not the only one.RegardsJonathan
