I got breast implants about a year ago. 285cc ultra high profile, sub-glandular (over the muscle). I'm 5'4", 26 years old, 105 lbs. Extremely active.
About 4 months after the surgery I developed Symmastia and tried special bras and other methods to fix it, but nothing worked. I now have another surgery scheduled with a different surgeon.
This new surgeon is suggesting a mastopexy to reposition my nipples because the symmastia pushed them outward; they are suggesting to put in mesh to tack down my skin and fix the symmastia; and they are suggesting to take out my current implants and put in 180cc because the large implants on my petite frame could have contributed and I would like smaller implants anyway.
There were some issues I had with my first surgeon, especially when it came to the pressure to get a bigger size and their reaction to the symmastia (they were very indifferent, saying it was not a big deal). I think it looks pretty bad, since my skin is literally lifting off my sternum.
However, I am very nervous for the procedure and would like to hear what people think. Has anyone had symmastia fixed? What is the process like? Is it successful? Do you know why it developed in the first place?
Additionally, my nipple sensation is very important to me and I am worried the mastopexy will decrease sensitivity. Can anyone speak to this? What has been your experience?
At the end of the day, I got breast implants to feel a little more confident about my body and so far, it has not achieved that result due to all the complications.
Any other thoughts that might help me make a decision about what to do?
