"Healing process" treatments and inflammation

My question is about procedures like microneedling that stimulate the skin's healing processes. After my microneedling my face was very red for about two and a half days, which I understand is part of what makes the microneedling effective (drawing blood to the area, etc). Is the inflammation necessary or helpful? I am reading about creams that will calm the skin more quickly and I wonder if that works against the healing, or how to know what level of inflammation is helpful. Thanks!
