Causes of the pain after temporary crown put in?

My tooth under temporary crown (the temp crown put on 25th January 2022) is painful, I do not know how to best describe this pain, it is more like sore pain or sensitivity pain when not biting/eating/drinking and tolerable until now.

After temp crown put on, there was the gum pain for around 6 days. No more the gum pain after 6 days.

The tooth pain is obvious after 11 days from the temp crown put in. This tooth has not done root canal as there is no decay.

The tooth is number 25th, number 4th tooth from the back on upper left-hand side.

1) Is it the result of the dentist trimmed too much so expose to the nerve layer (the pulp)?
(or) Other possible causes for this pain?

2) Is it ok to go ahead with permanent crown put in?

3) This dentist has advised me if it is too pain then better to do root canal. However, this pain is tolerable until now and I do not wish to do the root canal. What should I do?

Can anyone who has knowledge or experience advise?
