I LOVE to figure skate. I've skated much of my life, and skate now about 4-5 hours a week. I compete as an adult figure skater. I jump, spin, and have a blast.I have two wonderful kids (survived natural childbirth) and a husband (who all skate too), but a nasty, flabby tummy especially when I lean over. I am normal weight and fairly muscled everywhere else. I'm 5'5,145 pounds, and early 40s. I eat under 25 grams of sugar a day (by the food label), but don't watch my sodium. I eat fruits, vegetables, meats, and about 1 slice of pasta/rice/whole wheat bread a day, and have done this for years & years. Anyhow, people sometimes think I am pregnant, and I hate buying figure skating dresses (or pants).I see alot of people post on here about pain & tightness after the operation. Alot of people seem to drop off from posting about 6 to 8 weeks? I guess they have moved on from pain? But, a few are reporting tightness in the abdomen muscles month & months afterwards. This worries me because skating, jumping, spinning . . . . I don't want to not be able to do them several months out. At what point can you safely do a backbend or just look up at the stars? How about look at the wall behind you (layback spin position, which requires stretching of the stomach)?I went to two plastic surgeons a few years ago. I wasn't ready because my little one was too little (he wanted to be picked up). Both said I had a big gap, and one said I had a hernia that he put his hands into my stomach pushing back my intestines. Now, I think my hernia has grown wider, just under my sternum. Some yoga positions like plow cause intense pain in the upper abdomen, and catch-foot spins (where my stomach wall is absolutely stretched to its max cause intense burning down the whole center of my abdomen.I have a June appointment with a third plastic surgeon to get a final opinion (he has the longest waiting list). I'm excited because he uses Expedrel for pain management and Progressive Tension Sutures (no drains, but the skin is attached to the stomach wall so there is no gap). I'm gathering up my list of questions to ask him:Do internal sutures dissolve on their own?Do PTS cause the skin/muscles to be so tight that women are comlaining months & months afterwardsWhen can I return to skating? When can I do an arabesque position? When could I do a yoga camel or backbend position?Expedrel has a "rare" complication of cardiac arrest . . what are the odds and what are the procedures to revive me in the surgical unit, how long to transfer to a hospital? What are the complication risks of the other pain management medicines? How long and how severe is the pain? I have had two kids natural childbirth, but you all are scaring me!Any insight on more questions or some answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated.(I don't have photos yet).
