Ptosis Internal Repair + Bilateral Blepharoplasty Review
I'm 11 days post op and I know it's still early to make judgments but I can't help but feel this was a terrible mistake. I have mild congenital ptosis and I have always noticed it as a child but no one else could see it. I only really noticed it in photographs. I'm planning to get married in a year and I decided to finally repair my ptosis and rejuvenate my appearance ahead of my big day. I sat on this decision for years and did not take it lightly. After, a lot of hours of research , I believe I chose the best ocluoplastic surgeon for my ptosis repair and bilateral blepharoplasty. However, as the swelling dissipates, I notice my ptosis eye has lifted higher than I would've like. Ever since the my 8th day of post op, i've become aware of how asymmetrical my lids are. I never ever noticed asymmetry looking straight into a mirror before this procedure. I have been crying day and night, wishing I could go back in time and talk myself out of this. If only I had loved myself enough to not let something so minuscule like this possibly ruin my appearance forever. I can only pray that it heals and results into something better than what I previously had. I wish that someone would've told me that this procedure was not worth the risks. I can't look at myself in the mirror be I don't even recognize myself anymore. I've expressed my concerns with my doctor but his responses do not sound convincing. He's agreed that I do not have 100% symmetry but that I will get close to it. He said it's too soon to tell whether or not I'll need a revision. I write this to caution others, to only consider this procedure if your ptosis is truly hindering your function or it is very visibly noticeable. As for myself, I really wish my doctor could've told me this procedure had risks that would outweigh the benefits especially for someone like myself.
