I recently had a ClearV Nd:YAG treatment to address a few cherry angiomas near my temples and vascular lesions around my nose. Additionally, my doctor also noted two cherry angiomas just inside my hairline and offered to treat them, too. I've been aware of the hairline growths for quite some time (they are an eyesore for sure), but have never wanted to treat them for fear of damaging adjacent hair follicles. I was reassured no collateral damage would occur to neighboring hair follicles next to the cherry agiomas, so I cautiously allowed her to proceed. Post-treatment, the non-hairline lesions have all healed well and I'm happy with those; however, the two cherry angiomas treated inside the hairline have now had noticeable hair loss in the areas treated since the procedure—exactly what I feared might happen. They both have evident bareness and loss of density compared to pre-treatment. It's now over a month since treatment and neither area is showing signs of hair regrowing or returning to baseline. I expressed concern to my clinic, and they felt confident by this time the hairs would show signs of recovery. That has not been the case thus far. Hair loss like this is upsetting on any part of your scalp, but it's that much more evident when it's your hairline. Are the hair follicles that got damaged not likely ever to return or is there a chance they are temporarily shocked and can re-emerge in the next two to three months? Thank you.
