Has anyone had a similar experience with erythema nodosum?

Hi, I'm a 32 year old male with recurrent idiopathic erythema nodosum. I was diagnosed by a dermatologist, and it was confirmed by my PCP. My first flare was 4.5 years ago, which mostly occurred on my shins and thighs (but spread a bit to my upper arms and sides of the stomach).

Over the last 4.5 years, I've had little flares here and there with maybe 5-10 lesions occurring. However, I'm currently experiencing a flare with 50+ lesions (on my legs and arms) that initially were very large and extremely painful, mostly resolved after the initiation of indomethacin (50 mg 3x daily), but is now recurring in the form of less painful, smaller lesions (mostly on my shins and thighs).

My PCP (who diagnosed this flare) did a chest x-ray, which was clear, and is confident that the case is idiopathic yet again. My question is: has anyone had a similar experience where they had a flare that came and resolved, but then had a "second wave" that was less painful, but still widespread? If so, was there a cause identified or a treatment that was helpful? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
