Skin discoloration from Accutane

Hi,

My 19 year old has been on Accutane for about 3 months for acne. He is biracial, skin is definitely more brown than white, but has developed patches/alot of spots of discoloration in the past month. Will this go away? He had a small amount of eczema on his chest as a child, the derm said the drying out of his skin is activating his ezema resulting in the lighter patches. He said it should disappear, but if it doesn't, my son will have a "unique" look. My son doesn't want a unique look, he just wants his acne to go away. He has been doing a great job on moisturizing. Is this normal?
