So I have older teen kids and then a 4th grader. I go for my TT, BBL, and lipo soon. I planned on telling no one but my spouse but realized the kids would see me all bandaged up and they are use to mom with a flabby tummy loaded with stretch marks. Here's what I told my kids. The teens- i explained that the doctor needed to fix my stomach muscle and while they were doing that they were going to cut my skin out with stretch marks on it. I also explained what HIPPA is in a kid friendly way and then explained that my personal medical is just that personal. I was upfront and told them that I am trusting them and decided to tell them because I don't want to lie to them but that it's really important they not share my personal medical information. I even coached them what to say if someone asks. I gave them two options 1) my mom has told me not to talk about it or 2)something with her stomach I'm not exactly sure. I didn't give a label to the name of the procedures. Left it vague but gave enough so that when they see a flat no stretch mark belly they don't raise an eyebrow or question things. I will say that they thought I was being stupid and wasting money and said that the scar was going to look worst then my stretch marks. I love that they are so pure and not vain and appreciate their words but explained to them that this is my choice and I have chosen. :) For three fourth grader I kept it very generic. The doctor is fixing mom's stomach. End of story. I figure if the teens end up saying something then it will sound more like somehow I got rid of stretch marks aND had a muscle fixed. I don't necessarily care if people know but would like to keep it under wraps for the most part
