How many times should you see a plastic surgeon before breast reduction??

I met with a plastic surgeon once then was approved by insurance. So the office called to schedule my surgery......which is great but I have only met the doctor once. Her staff says for my pre-op she doesn't really need to be there....is this how it works??? Should you only see the doc one time before surgery? Thanks for any advice!!
