Venus Freeze is a non-invasive treatment for cellulite and loose skin on the face, neck, and body. According to Doctor R. Stephen Mulholland 'Venus Freeze, despite it's name, uses heat through the mechanism of radio frequency, to target fat.'

With so many available forms of skin tightening and fat reduction on the market, how do you know which one is right for you? Here are 5 key things to keep in mind before undergoing Venus Freeze:
1) How many treatments are required for best results?
This is not a quick fix, multiple treatments are required. The number of treatments will vary based on the area that you are treating. Doctor Joe Gryskiewicz, tells us that 'when treating the face, the recommended dose would be 5-6 treatments, 7-10 days apart from eachother.' He further explains ' If you are treating the body, we recommend 8-10 treatments, 7-10 days apart from eachother.' [Read more]
An interesting question came in to our Doctors FAQ, where members can ask board-certified doctors and specialists specific questions about cosmetic procedures. RealSelfer cathyrb asked:
'Why do I see visible improvement in my jowls for the few days following Venus Freeze treatments, then the results diminish?'
Click here to find out the answer!

2) How long do the results last?
Nothing is permanent in life, not even Venus Freeze. After your initial set of treatments Doctor F. Victor Rueckl explains that most 'people elect to come in for maintenance treatments to help maintain results and they do a treatment every 3-6 months '. [Read more]

3) Is it safe to have Venus Freeze with fillers?
This inquiry came to us from Realselfer blondie10 and it was a great question, as fillers such as Juvederm, are just about as common as getting your hair done these days.
Although there are limited studies to date on the effects that radiofrequency can have on fillers, Doctor Simone Matousek tells us that 'the one animal study that exists suggested no reduction in the filler volume, however an inflammatory response around the fillers (which would lead to increased collagen formation). Venus freeze should not 'melt' the filler but may have some effect on it.' [Read more]
4) Can you have Venus Freeze after Liposuction?
It is always best to consult with the doctor that did your liposuction procedure before getting any additional treatments, such as Venus Freeze. However, as long as you are fully healed, Doctor Misbah Khan says that 'there is no contraindication to the use of venus freeze but it depends on your condition and the areas of concern after liposuction.' [Read more]
5) Are there any side effects?
According to a study conducted by Doctor Neil Sadick 'there are no long-term safety risks with Venus Freeze' The study further concluded that of '31 patients (mostly middle-aged women) received 10 weekly or twice-weekly treatment sessions for facial wrinkles. None of the participants experienced pain, burns, skin damage or scarring.'
RealSelf member, katepproxx was concerned about the effect that radiofrequency may have on the face, and wondered if it was safe since the treatment destroys fat cells? Doctor F. Victor Rueckl assures us that 'Radiofrequency can destroy fat cells but only when specific energies are used. You cannot use Thermage and Venus Freeze on settings like that. The machines simply do not go that high. So there is no ability for these machines to destroy fat cells; the settings on them only allow for skin tightening.' [Read more]
