I just got my Invisalign off and have been wondering about the vivera retainer I received. I went through a Groupon so got a good deal ($3000) and the orthodontist also had good reviews. My treatment was fast and pretty straightforward so I think that is also why I got a discount. The orthodontist also said the retainers would be an extra $1000 and since I was getting a good deal I just paid $4000 and paid everything up front. When I was going through treatment I asked several questions about what type of retainer I wouldn't be getting and always got short answers like that's a good question I'm not sure yet... and then another time I asked he said he would be going with the Invisalign retainer. I looked up online and was surprised to see that this is often much less than $1000. At my last appointment when I recieved my retainer I asked how long it would last and he said I shouldn't have to replace it, it should last forever. Well now i have been reading online it is suggested to be replaced every 3 months and $1000 seems like it should cover these replacements. Do you think my orthodontist didn't want to tell me to replace it so he could keep more of my money? Does this seem strange? Or reasonable since I had a good deal?
