My wife 36F was diagnosed with BCC of the lower eyelid, in the center, small, about 3 weeks ago. It is a recurrence. She was previously diagnosed 4 years ago and had excision with margin check, which came back clear. It was biopsied again though when a new, small growth appeared, and confirmed BCC.
We have been given two options, (1) Mohs at an academic medical center in a week (so 4 weeks wait from original biopsy) or (2) Mohs with another local, and well known fellowship trained Mohs surgeon, who has an occuloplastic specialist who we believe will provide a better cosmetic outcome, but the wait would be an additional 3 more weeks (so 6 weeks from original biopsy)...
Do we wait for the provider with the perceived better cosmetic outcome? Or do we go quickly. I am uncomfortable with the wait generally considering this is a recurrence, but understandibly my wife is concerned with the cosmetic results. Thoughts?
