Do dental explorers, curettes, etc. create scratches on the tooth enamel (where new caries occur) during regular dental exams?

The dental explorers, curettes can create microscopic scratches in the porcelain of an implant. Also, there would be havens for further bacterial growth. Besides, the tooth enamel is not a thick coating instead the curettes and explorers of stainless steel instruments can cause scratches on it.
