I had a rhinoplasty/septoplasty (which I've since learned was not needed) almost a year ago. I had a really terrible result. My nose looks horrible - my original surgeon completely botched it. I've been told by other doctors that he is "incompetent". I hate looking in the mirror, don't want to go out, and won't let my picture be taken. It has really deeply affected me. In addition, I now have severe breathing issues as well as bad dryness/crusting in side my nose (never had before) and constantly have to pick/blow my nose. I've been sick since the procedure with upper respiratory issues that I did not have before (sinus issues, colds, etc).I'm looking for a revision specialist in Chicago but am really scared to undergo a second surgery after what happened the first time. I've been to a couple of doctors here including Shah and Mustoe. Also saw Toriumni. Really confused about what to do next. I'm told not all of the breathing issues can be corrected. But I'm hoping that they will improve and at least I won't hate the look of it so much. As much as I want this 'fixed" to whatever degree it can be, I'm trying to do my research to increase the chances of success this time and don't want to rush into another surgery til I feel comfortable finding a new surgeon I can trust. Which is hard to do after being let down so badly by the first one.If anyone has had a successful revision in Chicago I'd appreciate your input. And any stories of hope for revision rhino are welcome. This has been the most difficult experience of my life. I really appreciate the folks who've posted pictures - they give me hope...which I desperately need right now. Thanks, and good luck to all of you.
