There has been a media hype about a new tattoo removal cream developed by a Ph.D. student, Alec Falkenam, he is claiming it will be effective in fading, and possibly removing tattoos. The miracle cream is currently in its testing stages—in which he is testing the cream on tattooed pig’s ears, and has not been approved by the FDA. Doctor David S. Rosenberg says that the "science behind this research looks promising, but it will be a long while before this product is available for sale."

According to  CBC News, the topical cream works by targeting the macrophages remaining at the site of the tattoo,"new macrophages move in to consume the previously pigment-filled macrophages and then migrate to the lymph nodes, eventually taking all the dye with them." There is no word yet on approximately how many treatments will be required to remove the unwanted ink, but he does claim that it will be a safer option than laser tattoo removal.

"It would be great but it is unlikely to truly work. Tattoos are called permanent for a reason-- they are very hard to remove.”

Doctor Jason Emer
isn't so convinced either, his thoughts. "there are no creams that work or will ever (in my opinion) work without damaging the top of the skin." [Read more]
