Hello,I'm hoping to get some advice regarding some issues I have experienced on my journey to surgery. I began this process late Jan/early Feb of this year. I did extensive research for the most suitable surgeon for me and my location (North East England). However the issues I have faced involve, no correspondence following consultations with the surgeon with the exception of the first time in meeting one another. I have had to chase up everything, in regards to a follow up appointment as I heard nothing from the consultant, his secretary or a colleague who I need to see. Understandably I gave time for everything to process, however this has resulted in me waiting 9 1/2 weeks from last seeing the consultant to seeing his colleague for a psychological evaluation. The consultant said that he would not be comfortable performing this surgery without reassurance from his colleague first. I was told not to worry and someone would be in touch to arrange an appointment for the phycologist. However after waiting 3 1/2 weeks I had heard nothing from anyone, therefore I took it upon myself to try and contact the phycologist. I managed to do so and get an appointment but this is not until the 18th May...As you can see that would now extend the waiting period from last seeing the consultant in early March to then get a follow up in May. I'm very frustrated and upset that I cannot plan a rough date for my surgery, as this whole process has been nightmare. The communication between patient and consultant has been awful. I've got my heart on this surgery and I feel like I'm not being taken seriously as an adult. At this rate now I've predicted it will take a further 2-3 months to finally have my surgery, from starting this Jan/Feb. Is 6 months an average waiting time for surgery?I would just like to know if anyone has had any similar experiences that they would be willing to share.
