Dear doctors in the community,
I had a non-absorbable (permanent) thread lift performed about 20 years ago, including threads placed to support the jawline/lower face. Over the past [days/weeks], I’ve developed pain behind my ear, and I can now feel/see what appears to be a thread end poking through the skin in that area (possible extrusion).
I’m looking for guidance on evaluation and safe removal options in Florida. I understand that older permanent threads (often polypropylene/nylon/Aptos-type suspension threads) can migrate, tether, or extrude years later, and that removal may require local anesthesia, imaging such as ultrasound to locate the thread path, and potentially partial or complete surgical extraction by an experienced plastic surgeon or dermatologic surgeon.
If anyone in Florida has experience managing late complications of permanent thread lifts (especially jawline vectors with extrusion near the ear), I would appreciate recommendations for the appropriate specialist or clinic.
