I’ve heard more than one plastic surgeon say that the key to a satisfied patient is a result they can live with.
While there are instances when a patient is over the moon about a procedure, oftentimes having a patient be satisfied rather than thinking the outcome is “too much” is the best the surgeon can go for, especially when it comes to something as nuanced and difficult as rhinoplasty. So it should come as no surprise that revision rhinoplasty is likely more difficult to perform at a level that will achieve the utmost patient satisfaction.
I should know, I’ve had three rhinoplasties over the last 15 years. The first one left me with uneven profiles which the surgeon revised, ultimately making my nose too narrow (leaving cartilage that was unsupported). I had a revision rhinoplasty 4 years ago that corrected my uneven profiles but I still feel like the surgeon over promised and under delivered.
I’m looking into a fourth final revision sometime in my future. To top it off, I have thick skin which is difficult to manipulate (and scar tissue from my previous surgeries). I’m wondering at what point should i be satisfied with my results or stop seeking to revise my previous rhinoplasties.
Has anyone had a similar experience or dealt with multiple revision rhinoplasties with thick skin? How satisfied are you with your results?
