Hi,I've had an upper denture for 10 years. I've hated it for every bit of the 10 years. I CANNOT stand my pallet being covered and even after all this time, it feels like a foreign object in my mouth.I am ready to mortgage my home to get implants. After years of research on the net, and a recent meeting with a maxillofacial surgeon and a prosthedontist, I believe an implant supported denture (6 implants) is the best way to go.The procedure is so expensive. $13,500 for the surgeon and $7,600 for the prosthedontis. I honestly don't have the money to spend but I feel so awful about myself. It seems like most people that have implant supported dentures went straight from having all their teeth pulled to either all-on-fours or were edentulous.I'm looking to hear from people that had their denture replaced with an implant supported denture. Are you happy with them? How does it feel to have your pallet exposed again ? Do they feel more secure and with that do YOU personally feel more secure ? Have you had any issues with them ? any and all feedback is appreciated. And why , why, why, with technology being what it is today, are they so expensive ?As we age, the things we need most are the most expensive. So, at end of life, we can't see very well, we certainly can't hear and we can't chew our food if our wallets are not spilling over with $$.Thanks all.S.
