2 treatments BBL Sciton. (Broadband laser) on the face to reduce the redness, telangiectasia and hyperpigmentation at a clinic.1st on Oct 30th 2024. I was assured 'the BBL does not affect hair follicles'. I now understand that circa 560mn is used for the pigmentation and circa 590nm used for the red veins with this machine.I did notice the hair line looking a bit thinner in the days after the first treatment, but I did not focus on it and put it down to the light. The 2nd treatment was January 7th. I had had a few breakouts, and the therapist explained those could be treated to speed up healing but I said 'best not too' as the spots were around the hairline. Again, it wsa reiterated it does not affect hair and I relaxed somewhat. Hence in this session, I had several passes, more passes in areas at the hairline. That laser head is quite fat and the gel causes slip. At home, I saw immediately without any question, a definitive patch of missing hair where a blood spot had been attacked with mulitple passes. There was no denying it. When I got home I took pictures and sent images to the clinic. A few days later the clinic responded acknowleging I had lost hair and this was unusual and that in time it will grow back. I think perhaps one or two passes, a good chance, but with the amount of passes undertaken, the 590nm on the vascular areas of the blood spot and the fact I am fitzpatrick type 1 with very dark hair, I hold little hope.I did some research and purchased one dispenser of Opti Laboratories Bimatoprost. I had to get a script from the company to do so. It costs £120. I spoke to a very nice Dr there who advised a small amount brushed on every night and after 6 weeks I'll see some baby hairs coming back. He is kindly following my progress. I spoke to the head of Sciton sales Europe, an American chap based here who said, that the BBL head should NOT come into contact with hair but they have seen hair loss when it has happened by accident, including on a man's face whereby his beard when it grew had patches, but that grew back after many months. I must say, the skin is amazing. Its almost free of pigmentation and I am less red with most red veins gone. My complexion is better than its ever been. I can not fault the results in only 2 treatments. My fear is that irreparable damage has been caused to my follicles given the number of passes. I appreciate I will likely get some regrowth but the thinness, particularly at one side so when the hair is held back in a pony tail, scalp is showing which never showed before. In the photos, (there are lots more I could load) you can see the blood spot in the shot 'pre' rx and then the gap on the after photo and how much finer the hair shows generally.
