I had fat grafting done in October 2017. I paid $3650, which is actually less than Dr. Law in Raleigh, NC. I wish I had known then all that I do now. I live in that area and I suppose I could have had this done by a true expert, rather than the guy who did mine and gave me a bizarre, distorted face.
“My” doctor said he stands by all of his work, but judging by the way I am ignored and placated by their staff and by him, with no improvement OR refund for such a bad result, I’d say he does not stand by his work, but rather gives you the runaround, probably hoping I’ll just go away. This doctor even told me that the nurse in his office could see that my cheeks are overfilled. And big surprise, the Thermi he did on my tummy has not worked at all. He hasn’t stood by any of this, no matter what his words are. Words mean nothing without action. An action in my case, at this long, would be refunding my money so that I can address these issues elsewhere.
I’ve now seen a nurse I had a long relationship with for fillers and Botox. I wish I had sought her out before doing this, because she is truly an expert on the face. She said she could see clearly that something was “off” about my face since she had last seen me a few years ago. Well, she’s right. My face is distorted, and the structure has been altered with ugly unattractive results.
She took some pictures and told me she’d like to show them to the plastic surgeon she works for. They have been using Kybella off-label for mid face fullness as well as for jowls. Yesterday, I heard back from her, and she tells me that her plastic surgeon also suggested using Kybella after viewing my pictures, and said that lipo in this area can be very problematic. She says that we would start out with less than a half vial of Kybella for both sides (combined) the goal being to make this a very conservative approach.
I have now seen that Kybella is indeed being used off-label on other areas of the face and without causing problems. I just haven’t seen anything about using it on the cheeks for overzealous fat grafting. The nurse who would do this is very experienced with Kybella including using it off-label for jowls and mid face. She’s very experienced with the face in general too. I trust her.
Has anyone heard of Kybella for this? Or tried it?
I will not ask the surgeon who did the fat grafting to do this because I simply do not want him to touch my face again. This as a real botched job, and I have no confidence in him at all. He also suggested Kybella when I first let him know I was not happy, but the next time I saw him, he denied suggesting Kybella. I can now add to my list of grievances with this doctor that I know he will be dishonest with me. I had no knowledge of what Kybella even was before he mentioned it, so I would not have made that association by mistake. He just changed his mind and essentially gas lighted me (“I never said that.” Oh, yes he did.)
So I’m going to have to pay additional money to treat this, no matter what I do. I just don’t trust that doctor at all.
Even if you’ve used other treatments for overfilled face transfer, I’m interested in hearing about your experience.
Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed to this topic on Real Self. For those who are curious, I hope to be posting a review of my unsuccessful fat transfer pretty soon. I’m just hoping for a full refund, though I doubt that’s going to happen, despite that doctor’s admission that neither procedure was successful. I’ll attach a few photos of my face a few weeks after the procedure to show how much he overfilled me. It is truly grotesque.
