Should liposuction procedure be painful?

I recently had vaser liposuction on three parts of my abdomen. I was given lorazepam and oxycodone before the surgery. I was very relaxed and expected to feel very little discomfort or pain. The surgeon used a local anaesthetic that they injected in to my stomach during the procedure. From beginning to end I was in agony, I was shrieking in pain at times and I cried the whole way through. I felt traumatised afterwards, partly because I hadn't been warned about the risk of any pain at all during the procedure. Do I have reason to complain?
